BASELWORLD 2017: TAG Heuer Carrera Lady 2017
With models in all black, denim blue, or a black dial with full-grain calfskin leather, and featuring a new modular construction, the new Carreras are sure to win over younger generations
The Carrera collection is TAG Heuer's flagship collection. Launched by Jack Heuer in 1964 as a chronograph, it is now available in a range of diameters with many different functions for both men and women.
In 2017, TAG Heuer decided to put the spotlight on women with a sporty, contemporary version for today's active young women. With a blue sunray dial and a denim-effect leather strap, a black dial enhanced with a touch of rose gold and a full-grain calfskin leather strap, a black dial with an 18K rose gold case and a shiny black alligator skin strap, or lastly the wildly rock 'n' roll full-black look, the new Carrera Ladies speak to a new generation. Featuring an elegant yet not too excessive diameter of 36 mm, the new case of the Carrera Lady is directly inspired by the newest addition to the TAG Heuer in-house chronograph family: the Carrera Heuer-01 released in 2015.
This year, thanks to a new development, the case features a different construction. It is no longer punched from a block in the traditional TAG Heuer way – it is now modular and formed of 9 different pieces (case back, case middle, bezel, lugs and strap end-pieces), which paves the way for myriad possible combinations of almost endless materials, colours, treatments and finishes.
In another new addition, the bezel is thicker and larger, which gives the case extra character. The lugs are now more prominent, rejuvenating the entire watch, which is finished off with a two-material strap – available for women for the first time at TAG Heuer – that will offer unrivalled and enduring comfort thanks to its rubber base. The watches are fitted with a quartz movement to ensure their price tag remains competitive. These new models are available starting from CHF 1,450.
